Keep Cool

Keep Cool

This morning as I was walking pass a clinic to get some breakfast from a kopitiam next to it when I saw a mother holding her two children by the hand, leading them into the clinic entrance glass door. The children looked flushed, and were sniffling – so I thought, these children must be sick. I peered into the glass door, and I saw a 2-3 children in the clinic, assuming that they are sick as well. I made a conclusion, probably it’s the heat and the unpredictable weather.

The hot weather is really something you can’t avoid. You can’t tell the sun to stop radiating and you can’t rearrange the clouds to shade the Earth from the scorching heat, right? Here’s what you need to do to keep you and your family cool and healthy during this crazy hot weather in Malaysia! Here are the top 5 ways to keep you and your family healthy!

No. 1 – always keep you and your family hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, and not only when you feel thirsty. Because your body lose water through excessive sweating, you’d end up dehydrated and parched like a dried prune. Occasionally, you can have a glass of cool peppermint tea. This is a great way to make your insides feel cool and tingly, thanks to the menthol and a substance in the plant that works the opposite way capsaicin does, instead tricking your body into feeling cold. Plus, you can spray mint tea onto your skin to provide both evaporative and mentholated cooling, so this beverage pulls double duty.

Secondly, another way to keep yourself hydrated and avoid overheating in this terrible heat is to add water-rich food like some of these seasonal produce – watermelon, cantaloupe, and cucumbers. These produce contains loads water, furthermore, they’re easy to digest and don’t need to be cooked, and taste better than water, am I right? LOL. But don’t skimp on water! Drink water and eat these mouthwatering water-rich fruits to keep your body hydrated and healthy. Other than peppermint tea, coconut water is used for its cooling properties. In addition to that, it’s also a great source of the electrolytes you lose through sweating, making it a relatively low-calorie, low-sugar substitute for sports drinks.

Third, avoid heavy meals and opt for frequent small meals instead. This is because digesting a large, heavy meal requires more energy than digesting a small one. That is why, it is advisable to eat small meals throughout the day instead of a three traditional meals to keep your body from doing extra work and heating up in the process.

Fourth, up your vitamin C intake. Being cooler in this dreadful hot weather could be as simple as popping a pill into your mouth! Vitamin C is found to increase the tolerance for heat by delaying sweat gland fatigue, which reduces the occurrence of heat exhaustion and prickly heat rash. Furthermore, vitamin C also keeps your body temperature from rising during heat exposure with a dose as small as 250 milligrams.

If you are still in search of a great Vitamin C supplement, Mommy J will recommend you the Shaklee Sustained Release Vita C Plus or the Shaklee Chewable C Plus for your kids!

Fifth, during days like this – a minute its hot, then the next its cold – this could cause your body system to go haywire and soon you’ll catch a fever. That is why it is so so important to keep your body healthy all the time. Fueling and providing your body with a balanced diet and keeping fit is sometimes troublesome, why not try incorporating multivitamin into your daily routine?

Shaklee Vita Lea can help boost your immune system, as well as provide you with your nutritional daily needs. Vita Lea keeps the body and mind healthy, and also provide you the energy to endure the heat. If your children have a hard time ingesting pills, Shaklee Vita Lea for Children contains the same benefits as the adult ones. It contains 100% vitamin C, D & E and all 8 of the vitamin B,

So what are you waiting for? Keep you and your family healthy and hydrated for the rest of this unpredictable weather. For more info on the products mentioned, contact Mommy J for a free consultation and best deals in town. Click here —> to connect directly with Mommy J!

Ovarian Cyst is Not Fibroid

Ovarian Cyst is Not Fibroid

Is ovarian cyst similar to fibroid? No. It is not. Though it occurs in the same section of a woman’s reproductive system, it is two totally different thing. Ovarian Cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form in or on the ovaries. One type of cysts – a functional cyst – occurs quite often. Usually, ovarian cysts do not cause symptoms and go away fairly quickly without any treatment. But in some cases, large cysts may cause pelvic pain, frequent urination, and other symptoms. In that case, you should consult a doctor who will recommend appropriate treatment.

Other types of ovarian cysts can represent tumors in the ovary. They can be benign or malignant. A doctor can diagnose this type of cysts with an ultrasound, and blood tests can be done to tell if the cyst is malignant. Such cysts are treated by surgery.

Most ovarian cysts are never noticed and resolve without women ever realizing that they are there. When a cyst causes symptoms, pain in the abdomen or pelvis is the most common one. The pain can be caused from:

  • rupture of the cyst,
  • rapid growth and stretching,
  • bleeding into the cyst, or
  • twisting of the cyst around its blood supply (known as torsion).

If the cyst has reached a large size, other symptoms may arise as a result of pressure or distortion of adjacent anatomical structures. These other symptoms can include

  • abdominal fullness, expansion of the abdomen, or bloating,
  • low back pain
  • indigestion
  • feeling full after eating only a small amount (early satiety),
  • urinary urgency
  • difficulty with emptying the bladder completely,
  • feeling an urge to defecate
  • having difficult bowel movements, or
  • pain with sexual intercourse.

There are many causes of ovarian cysts, and most ovarian cysts are not cancerous. Sometimes ovarian cysts may be noticed by a doctor during a bimanual examination of the pelvis. If a cyst is suspected based upon symptoms or physical examination, imaging techniques are used. Most cysts are diagnosed by ultrasound, which is the best imaging technique for detecting them. Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce an image of structures within the body. Ultrasound imaging is painless and harmless. Transvaginal ultrasound is a diagnostic tool to better visualize the ovaries using a thin ultrasound probe inside the vagina. Other than that cysts can also be detected with other imaging methods, such as CT scan or MRI.

What about treatment? Well now, the ideal treatment of ovarian cysts depends on the likely cause of the cysts and whether or not it is producing symptoms. The woman’s age, the size of the cyst, and the cyst’s appearance on ultrasound help determine the treatment. Cysts that are functional are usually observed with frequent monitoring unless they rupture and cause significant bleeding, in which case, surgical treatment is required. Benign and malignant tumors require operation.

Treatment can consist of simple observation, or it can involve evaluating blood tests to help determine the potential for cancer but ovarian cancer is rare in women younger than age 40. After age 40, an ovarian cyst has a higher chance of being cancerous than before age 40, although most ovarian cysts are still benign even after age 40.

Menopause : Not The End of The World

Menopause : Not The End of The World

Celebrate! Menopause is not the end of the world. But think of it as a brand new phase of your life. You’d definitely need to overhaul your daily routine. The no.1 key to staying and feeling youthful and active after this big change in your life is a good nutrition and regular physical exercise.

As you age, your body will need different kind of nutrition. You might need more greens in your diet, and less junk food. Which applies to your nutritional needs – before menopause, you should consume 1,000mg of calcium daily. After menopause, you should amp it up to 1,200 mg.As you age, your nutritional needs change. Same goes to Vitamin D. Vitamin D is very important for calcium absorption and bone formation. Adding Vitamin D into your diet after a menopause great cuts your risk of spinal fracture. Nevertheless, too much calcium or Vitamin D can cause kidney stones, constipation, and or abdominal pain, especially if you have a history of kidney problems.

Most women who is in the menopause phase of their life, gain weight. This may be because of declining estrogen levels. Raising your activity level will help avoid unwanted weight gain. Regular exercise, 5-6 times a week can really work wonders for your heart and bones, helps control your weight, and most importantly, improve your mood. Women who pay less attention to their activity level are more likely to have heart diseases, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and osteoporosis. Moreover, due to weight gain and not active, women may also suffer from chronic back pain, insomnia, poor circulation, weak muscles, as well as depression. Why depression? Well, that is because when we exercise, your body releases hormones called endorphins – this hormone helps improves your mood and lasts for several hours. On the plus side, it also helps the body fight off stress!

Here’s how to live your life like it is just another normal day – in a nutshell.

  • Don’t smoke. Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease.
  • Exercise regularly. Even moderate exercise, such as walking a half-hour, 3 times a week is beneficial.
  • Maintain a healthy weight through a balanced, low-sugar diet.
  • Control high blood pressure with medicine or lifestyle changes. This will help cut your risk for heart disease.
  • Reduce stress in your life through relaxation methods or regular exercise.

If you are not yet in the menopause phase, no worries, this article is for you as well. Why you ask? Well, heading on into menopause is not a Sunday drive. Before and you are about close to menopause, you will experience symptoms like irregular periods, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, chills, night sweats, hot flashes, sleep problems, mood changes and unwanted weight gain no matter how active you are. Some may also experience high fever – what an awful transition into menopause right? Well, Shaklee can help.

Shaklee can help you ease your way into menopause without all the troublesome and painful symptoms. Adult Acne Shaklee Solution

Adult Acne Shaklee Solution

Gosh, must be frustrating though right? When you are reaching your 20s but you still have acne like when you did in your teen years! But do you know, 80% of women and men can still have acne in their 20s, 30s, 40s and even 50s?! Yeap, you might have to borrow your grandkid’s acne cream when you go to visit. LOL Joke!

It is even possible to get acne for the first time as an adult. Dermatologists call this “adult-onset acne.” It is most common among women going through menopause.

Women tend to get adult acne more often than men do. If you’re getting acne as an adult, it is likely due to one or more of the following reasons:

Fluctuating hormone levels: An imbalance can lead to breakouts.

Women often experience fluctuating hormones:

  • Around their periods
  • During pregnancy, peri-menopause, and menopause
  • After discontinuing (or starting) birth control pills

Stress: Researchers have found a relationship between stress and acne flare-ups. In response to stress, our bodies produce more androgens (a type of hormone). These hormones stimulate the oil glands and hair follicles in the skin, which can lead to acne. This explains why acne can be an ongoing problem when we find ourselves under constant stress.

Family history: Does a close blood relative, such as a parent, brother, or sister have acne? Findings from research studies suggest that some people may have a genetic predisposition for acne. People who have this predisposition seem more likely to get adult acne.

Hair and skin care products: If you have adult acne, you should read the labels on your skin care and hair care products. Make sure that you see one of the following terms on every container:

  • Non-comedogenic
  • Non-acnegenic
  • Oil-free
  • Won’t clog pores

You want to make sure your moisturizer, cleanser, sunscreen, and all other products contain one of these terms. These products are least likely to cause acne.

Toxin filled body : Too much toxins in your body may cause unwanted visitors! When your skin starts to breakout after a full-blown greasy bbq and drinking session with your buddies, well, here is the time to detox!

Undiagnosed medical condition: Sometimes, acne is a sign of an underlying medical condition. Once the medical condition is diagnosed and treated, the acne often clears.

So you see, adult acne is normal. Don’t go crazy or even panic. It is normal. You can get help by going to your dermatologist, asking question about it and see how you can make it go away. But if you would like to balance your hormone level, and clear of toxins from your body.

To clear out toxins from your body, you’d need to clean your liver. A healthy liver allows blood to be cleanse and removed from the body through excrement. Shaklee Detox Combo can help you clean out and throw out all the toxins and the causes of your acne!

Shaklee Detox Combo consist of:

Vivix – enhances overall health and help stabilizes your hormones.

DTX Complex – detoxify your liver and eliminate excess fat from your body.

Fibroid 101

Fibroid 101

Fibroid. It seems like it is everywhere on social media, health group chats, health group communities; we, especially women, are beginning to be aware of this issue. But, what is fibroid?

Is it dangerous? Can it lead to a much worse fate? No worries loves! Here it is, all you need to know about fibroid,

First, before you can cure something, you will need to know what it really is. Fibroid, its most common name is also called Uterine fibroid – is a non-cancerous tumor. Yeap, it’s a kind of tumor. It grows from the muscle layers of the womb, which growth can vary from the size of a green bean to being as large as a melon. Scientifically known as leiomyomas and myomas – it commonly affects around 30 percent of all woman by the age of 35 years old, and 20 to 80 percent by age of 50 years. These benign growths of smooth muscle usually develops in women ages of 16 to 50 years – which are the reproductive years where estrogen levels are at its highest.

It is still unclear of as what brings about fibroids except for the fact that they start developing when the estrogen levels in a women’s body is at its peak! Most people experience no symptoms, but they can include lower backache, constipation and excessive or painful uterine bleeding that leads to anemia – loss of blood. Other possible symptoms may also include, labor problems, pregnancy problems, infertility and repeated miscarriages. If fibroids are large, there may also be a lot of unexplained weight gain and swelling in the lower abdomen. Once fibroid develops, it can continue to grow until menopause – and shrinks once the estrogen levels falls after menopause.

There are apparently four types of fibroid. The classification of a fibroid growth depends on its location in the womb, check these out:

  • Intramural: This is the most common type. An intramural fibroid is embedded in the muscular wall of the womb.
  • Subserosal fibroids: These extend beyond the wall of the womb and grow within the surrounding outer uterine tissue layer. They can develop into pedunculated fibroids, where the fibroid has a stalk and can become quite large.
  • Submucosal fibroids: This type can push into the cavity of the womb. It is usually found in the muscle beneath the inner lining of the wall.
  • Cervical fibroids: Cervical fibroids take root in the neck of the womb, known as the cervix.

Fibroids usually does not any symptom, but they are usually caught while doing a routine pelvic examinations. Some diagnostic test can detect the developments of fibroids to rule out other conditions. These diagnostic test includes:

  • Ultrasound images by scanning over the abdomen or by inserting a small ultrasound probe into the vagina.
  • An MRI can determine the size and quantity of fibroids.
  • A hysteroscopy uses small device with a camera attached to the end to examine the inside of the womb. The device is inserted through the vagina and into the womb through the cervix. If necessary, the doctor can take a biopsy at the same time to identify potentially cancerous cells in the area.
  • A laparoscopy may also be performed. In a laparoscopy, the doctor makes a small opening in the skin of the abdomen and inserts a small tube with a lighted camera attached through the layers of abdominal wall. The camera reaches into the abdominopelvic cavity to examine the outside of the womb and its surrounding structures. If necessary, a biopsy can be taken from the outer layer of the womb.

Course of treatment – well in most cases, fibroids can be left alone and untreated – if the fibroid does not affect the quality of life, treatment may not be necessary. Also, fibroid can lead to heavy periods, but if it does not cause major problems, one may choose not to undergo any type of treatment. This is because, as explained in the first three paragraph, fibroid will shrink when a woman hits menopause due to low estrogen level. Although, when treatment is absolutely necessary, first point of treatment is, medication and or surgery. The location of the fibroids, the severity of symptoms, and any future childbearing plans can all affect the decision of treatment.

Some severe cases where fibroid causes the following and should be taken seriously because it may be life-threatening:

  • Menorrhagia, also called heavy periods: This can sometimes prevent a woman from functioning normally during menstruation, leading to depression, anemia, and fatigue.
  • Abdominal pain: If fibroids are large, swelling and discomfort may occur in the lower abdomen. They may also cause constipation with painful bowel movements.
  • Pregnancy problems: Preterm birth, labor problems, and miscarriages may occur as estrogen levels rise significantly during pregnancy.
  • Infertility: In some cases, fibroids can make it harder for the fertilized egg to attach itself to the lining of the womb. A submucosal fibroid growing on the inside of the uterine cavity may change the shape of the womb, making conception more difficult.
  • Leiomyosarcoma: This is a rare form of cancer that is thought by some to be able to develop inside of a fibroid in very rare cases.

But if all is well, and no severe symptoms can be detected due to fibroids, first thing you can do is maintain a healthy lifestyle. By keeping your weight in check, and ensuring that you have proper exercise and healthy diet can help you maintain a healthy estrogen level.

PMS Solution!

PMS Solution!

Oh no! Its time of the month again. We go head on and endure the pain that comes with the disposable of our uterine line. But some may not be able to bare the pain at all because it is just too much to handle. Period pain has different stages of pain – mild throbbing and pre-labor pain, right? On top of that, tender breast, monstrous mood swings and back aches, goodness, you start questioning and wishing you were a man! Don’t worry, we are here today to see how we can avoid gender transition, sticking to being a women and go through the time of the month gracefully – at the same time keeping the people around us safe from our mood swings!

You go through this every month but do you know what actually happens down there? During your menstrual period, the uterus contracts to aid in the expelling of its lining. The “thing” that is responsible for the pain is a hormonelike substance called prostaglandin. The prostaglandin is involved in pain and inflammation trigger the uterine muscle contractions. So, the higher the level of prostaglandins, the more-severe the menstrual cramps!

But there are a few other factors contributing to menstrual cramps. Menstrual cramps can also be caused by:

  • Endometriosis. The tissue that lines your uterus becomes implanted outside your uterus, most commonly on your fallopian tubes, ovaries or the tissue lining your pelvis.
  • Uterine fibroids. These noncancerous growths in the wall of the uterus can cause pain.
  • Adenomyosis. The tissue that lines your uterus begins to grow into the muscular walls of the uterus.
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease. This infection of the female reproductive organs is usually caused by sexually transmitted bacteria.
  • Cervical stenosis. In some women, the opening of the cervix is small enough to impede menstrual flow, causing a painful increase of pressure within the uterus.

Some other factors that you might be at risk of menstrual cramps if:

  • You’re younger than age 30
  • You started puberty early, at age 11 or younger
  • You bleed heavily during periods (menorrhagia)
  • You have irregular menstrual bleeding (metrorrhagia)
  • You have a family history of menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)
  • You smoke

Fortunately, this can be overcome, not totally, but at least, to tone down the heat.

1. Supplement Yourself with Shaklee OsteMatrix and GLA Complex Combo

Take OsteMatrix which contains calcium and magnesium throughout the month, as these nutrients work in concert to aid muscle relaxation. Hence, elevating your mood and keeping you happy! You should aim for a total of about 1000mg of calcium daily, and up to 500mg of magnesium daily. GLA Complex can help you regulate your menstrual cycle, as well as reduce PMS and increase fertility.

2. Try a Tea

Raspberry leaf is considered to be a mild uterine tonic. Try a cup of raspberry leaf tea each day throughout the month. Keep in mind you are looking for the herbal tea, not raspberry-flavored black tea! If you can’t look for raspberry leaf tea, chamomile, fennel or ginger.

Dark green leafy vegetables in colander

3. Add More Greens into Your Diet

Dark leafy greens are a dietary source of magnesium, calcium, and countless other micronutrients. These nutrients are essential for mediating muscle contractions. In Chinese dietary therapy, dark green vegetables are also considered to be mildly cleansing, which is what the body needs in a “stagnation” condition. Some greens such as dandelion greens (very bitter, but very helpful) also have a mild diuretic effect, which reduces bloating.

4. Cut Down on Coffee

Caffeine, especially from coffee, is a well-known vasoconstrictor – it makes blood vessels constrict. Indeed, it may cause the vessels that feed the uterus to tighten more than they do in non-coffee drinkers. If you’re a diehard coffee drinker and can’t cut it out entirely, try avoiding it just in the week before your period and see if you notice a change.

Beat that monthly mood swings and be happy and go through the month with ease! Contact Mommy J for more information on the issue, its FREE! And for special monthly deals, and best prices for Shaklee supplements all year round!

Beat it, Migraine!

Beat it, Migraine!

Hello beautiful people! How are we today? I have a question for all of us, have you ever had that sudden pain on only one side of your head after receiving a bad news? And I bet you feel like you are gonna suddenly collapse and that the end of you. Well, some may call it a headache, but that kind of piercing pain that causes a hissing or buzzing sound in your ear, you feel like your eyes are going to pop out if the pain doesn’t stop – I introduce to you the culprit that contributes to all your misery and lack of interest in tolerating any kind of annoyance, The Migraine!

Circa 400 BC, Hippocrates, an ancient Greek physician and ‘the father of medicine’ (c.460 – 377 BC). (Photo by Hulton Archive/Getty Images)

Like many things, the first ever migraine was discovered and recorded by the ancient Egyptians and date back as far as 1200 B.C. Migraine is one of the oldest ailment known to mankind. Much much later into human civilization, around 400 B.C – ish, Hippocrates, a Greek physician of the Age of Pericles, referred to the visual disturbance that can precede a migraine such as flashing lights or blurred vision, which we know as aura. Hippocrates also describe a person will feel relief after vomiting.

Menenges – a layer of are three layers of protective tissue called the dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater that surround the neuraxis

The word migraine was derived from the older language in the world – Latin word “hemicrania” which means “half” (hemi) “skull” (crania) – basically migraine means half skull, given that often times migraine only occurs on one side of the head. Galenus of Pergamom – also a Greek physician, surgeon and philosopher in the Roman Empire was the first to use the term, “Migraine” to describe the pain felt across one side of the head during a migraine. Galenus suggested that the pain is likely to originate in the menenges – a layer of are three layers of protective tissue called the dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater that surround the neuraxis; and the vasculature of the head. He also pointed out the connection between the stomach and the brain due to the vomiting that seemed to relief migraines.

Migraines often start early in life of a person – be it during their childhood, adolescence phase or early adulthood. This ailment may or may not progress through four stages : prodrome, aura, headache and post-drome.

Prodrome : One or two days before a migraine, you may notice subtle changes that warn of an upcoming migraine, including:

  • Constipation
  • Mood changes, from depression to euphoria
  • Food cravings
  • Neck stiffness
  • Increased thirst and urination
  • Frequent yawning

Aura : May occur before or during migraines. Most people experience migraines without aura.

Auras are symptoms of the nervous system. They are usually visual disturbances, such as flashes of light or wavy, zigzag vision. Sometimes auras can also be touching sensations (sensory), movement (motor) or speech (verbal) disturbances. Your muscles may get weak, or you may feel as though someone is touching you.

Each of these symptoms usually begins gradually, builds up over several minutes and lasts for 20 to 60 minutes. Examples of migraine aura include:

  • Visual phenomena, such as seeing various shapes, bright spots or flashes of light
  • Vision loss
  • Pins and needles sensations in an arm or leg
  • Weakness or numbness in the face or one side of the body
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Hearing noises or music
  • Uncontrollable jerking or other movements

Sometimes, a migraine with aura may be associated with limb weakness (hemiplegic migraine).

Attack – Migraine usually lasts from four to 72 hours if untreated. The frequency with which headaches occur varies from person to person. Migraines may be rare, or strike several times a month. During a migraine, you may experience:

  • Pain on one side or both sides of your head
  • Pain that feels throbbing or pulsing
  • Sensitivity to light, sounds, and sometimes smells and touch
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Blurred vision
  • Light-headedness, sometimes followed by fainting

Post drome – The final phase, known as post-drome, occurs after a migraine attack. You may feel drained and washed out, while some people feel elated. For about 24 hours, you may also experience:

  • Confusion
  • Moodiness
  • Dizziness
  • Weakness
  • Sensitivity to light and sound

Vivix Preserves Telomere

Vivix Preserves Telomere

Wondering when life goes by, and signs of aging is starting to show, and you are wondering, how does the body do that The human body goes through a variety of changes as it gets older. In general, muscle, blood vessels and other tissues lose their elasticity. The heart becomes less efficient, bones are weaker and your metabolism will start to slow down. It is true, aging affects every aspects of your body, inside and out. But do you know there is something in the body that can slow down aging – interested now? This particular “thing” is a type of enzyme that helps the chromosomes to stop ageing, and thus, delays aging and keeping you looking and feeling young for a great length of time. Are you getting excited? Lol, alright, alright, this enzyme is call Telomeres.

Telomeres are like shoe lace caps that keeps chromosomes ends from fraying or sticking to other chromosomes

What is telomere? Well, telomere is a region of repetitive nucleotide sequences at each end of a chromosome. Telomere protects the end of the chromosome from fusion with neighbouring chromosomes or from deterioration. For example, if you would describe telomere as an everyday item, it is like the tip of a shoelace – it keeps the chromosome ends from fraying and sticking to each other, that could easily destroy and or scramble an organism’s genetic info. Telomeres consist of the same short DNA sequence repeated, hundreds or even thousands of times, over and over again. In humans, the telomere sequence is TTAGGG. In younger humans, the telomeres are about 8000 – 10,000 nucleotides long and shortens as each cell continues to divide. Nevertheless, when they reach a critical length, the cell just stops dividing and dies. Therefore, the processes of cell death and cell aging are regulated in part by telomeres.

Aging shorter telomeres gives a negative effect on our overall health. For example, telomeres protect cell’s chromosomes from fusing with each other or rearranging – an abnormality if were to happen can lead to cancer because without the telomeres to protect them, cells will be destroyed. Shorter telomeres also increases the chances of cells to deteriorate and producing molecules that can lead to inflammation, which is another important risk factor for various diseases. This is where aging starts to take its effect on the human body because telomere shortening is the primary cause of age-related break down of our cells. This occurs because when telomere length reaches a critical limit, the cell undergoes, in a scientific term – senescence and/or apoptosis – which basically means the cell will age or deteriorates and will soon dies! Basically, to put it in a simpler term, as the telomeres gets shorter, you age quickly and the risk of inflamed or age-related diseases is higher.

With every year, your telomeres get shorter, some cells stop replicating, and these symptoms worsen. UV and metabolic damage, which further shorten telomeres, can trigger cancer and aging; when you break the plastic cap, you unravel the whole shoelace.

Fortunately, there are ways for us to preserve the beautiful life our telomeres. Starting with some major changes to how we choose to live our life!

Meditate or yoga to reduce stress

Lower your stress levels – chronic stress can increase the odds that your telomeres will deteriorate. The is why compared to people who live carefree and without too much worry tend to look younger than those who stress a lot. According to a research conducted at the University of California, LA, people practice meditation experiences a 44% increase in their activity of telomerase – an enzyme which lengthens telomeres. So it is important to take a break and breeeaaaaathe in and out if things get too hectic.

Get up and move it move it! – Another conclusion made that the more different kinds of exercise people did, the longer their telomeres. Compared to a sedentary subject, an active and intense runner subject had telomeres lengths which were, on average, 75% longer! So what are you waiting for? Sign up for a gym membership or do yoga to get a good stretch and workout – plus to achieve a stress-free mind! Killing two birds with one stone, am I right? J

Get some healthy sun vitamin – People with higher levels of vitamin D are more likely to have longer telomeres, and vice versa. This actually means that individuals with higher levels of the sunshine vitamin may actually age more slowly than persons with lower levels of this vitamin. But be wary of the time of day, the best time to get some sun vitamin D is in the morning and before the sun is at its highest point. You want vitamin D, not get exposed to UVB and get skin cancer!

Get your beauty sleep – If you are getting less than seven hours a night or accustomed to going to bed at different times every day, you are more likely to suffer from oxidative stress and inflammation, that can shorten your telomeres. What is oxidative stress? Oxidative stress is essentially an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the ability of the body to counteract or detoxify their harmful effects through neutralization by antioxidants. Sleep deprivation causes sensitivity to oxidative stress so, regulate your sleeping time and get an extra hour to preserve the length of your beloved telomeres.

Antioxidants – Regular consumption of whole food plant-based diet and its wide range of antioxidants neutralizes free radical damage. Antioxidants reduces free radical damage and preserve DNA functions. In some cases, antioxidants even help repair DNA. Foods high in folate – plasma concentrations of folate (also known as vitamin B9) correspond to telomere length in both women and men because vitamin B9 has an essential role in the maintenance of DNA methylation and DNA integrity, both of which influence the length of your telomeres.

Another powerful change and additional that can aid to your journey in preserving your telomeres is a botanical based beverage that will help your cells repair and protect against daily cellular damage.

Shaklee’s lab studies shows that Vivix key ingredients :

√ Protects and repair DNA

√ Blunt the inflammatory response of healthy people to an unhealthy meal, which over time can lead to cellular aging

√ Positively impact cellular energy production

A final recap, telomeres are protective endcaps that protect chromosomes in cells. As we age, telomeres grow shorter, and extreme shortening is associated with higher health risks. The big idea: Slowing telomere shortening may support longer, healthier lives.

Mitochondria are the components in our cells that generate energy. As cells age, mitochondria decline in number and/or efficiency. Laboratory studies show that Vivix key ingredients increased mitochondrial mass and cellular energy production.

What is CP500? Something You Should Know as a Business Person.

What is CP500? Something You Should Know as a Business Person.

Hi, Good Morning!

Today, I am going to share something interesting which is CP500.

What is CP500?

Why CP500?

Everytime when I received something from LHDN, my heart beats faster than usual. Do you feel the same as I do? LOLZ!

As an income earner in Malaysia, we cannot runaway from paying tax. Every year, we need to declare our incomes and expenses so that we know what is our taxable income. We need to pay income tax to the government based on the taxable amount.

Here is the chart that you may want to keep as record.

This is my very first year receiving my love letter, CP500 from LHDN.

What is CP500?

CP500 is what we call as Income Tax Installment. It is a notice of Prepayment of Income Tax by Instalment.

CP500 normally will be sent early of the year to those who are ‘selected’ where you have to pay your (estimated) tax on an installment basis.

Who are the people who will be receiving this CP500?

Normally CP500 is given to people who has an income but not from their fixed pay. For example, people who drive GrabCar, people who has extra income via house rental or car rental, people who are doing online business and anyone who has a source of income but not paying PCB monthly.

Since I am not working now and I am receiving my monthly bonus from Shaklee, so I have to pay for this Prepayment of Income Tax by Installment via CP500 Notice.

This is actually a form of initiative to help tax payer to pay for their tax on a bi-monthly basis instead of a whole lumpsum during the tax declaration period.

If case the income tax amount is lesser than the amount that you have paid under this installment period, government will refund back to you as usual.

How Does LHDN Decides on the Amount on CP500?

LHDN estimates the tax amount based on the income tax paid in previous year.

For example, I am paying my tax of RM6000 in Year 2018. So LHDN will issue CP500 with an estimated tax of RM5000 and divide them into 6 months.

I have to pay my CP500 of RM1000 every bi-monthly starting March 2019 until January 2020.

How to Pay your CP500?

You can pay at most of the banks in Malaysia over the counter for CIMB Bank, Public Bank, Malybank, Affin Bank, Bank Rakyat, RHB Bank and BSN. You can also pay via online transfer using CIMB, PBB, Maybank2u, HLB, RHB, Vitibank, Alliance Bank and BSN.

You can choose to pay via LHDNM website at using FPX method.

If you prefer to walk in to LHDNM, you can choose to pay using cheque, bank draft to Ketua Pengarah Hasil Dalam Negeri.

If you choose to pay via CP501 Form, make sure you fill your details properly on the form which is attached together in the CP500 Notice and send to Pos Malaysia Berhad. The details and address is included together in the CP500 Notice.

Penalty for Late Payment

YES! There is always a penalty is you fail to pay on the “Tarikh Akhir Kena Bayar”, last date to pay. A penalty of 10% up to 100% will be imposed for late payer. So make sure you set your alarm every 2 months to pay for your CP500. Hehe.

So, don’t worry!

The government is not collecting extra money from you. It is just a system for you to pay your tax in advance via their installment program. It is common among those who are working with a company because they have to pay for their PCB (Monthly Tax Deduction) every month as stipulated in their payslip. It is a series of monthly deductions that go towards payment of your taxes in relation to your employment income. These monthly deductions are retained by your employer and paid over to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).

Hope this article helps those in doubt of CP500.
